Oh, Summer, we’re so happy you’re here and could stay awhile. We dream of you when you’re away, rejoice when you return, mourn when you leave. Our days together are already shortening, your light lingering less, but your embrace is still warm.
I know it won’t always be so.
Before long the chill between us will creep back in, the darkness will swallow the light, the rainbow hues will fade to muted sepia tones.
And we will go on.
But today, we revel in your heat, we bathe in your gaze, we frolic in your favor.
As if you’ll never leave.
