Mommy, do you know what this is? It’s the Mayflower, the huuuuuuge boat the pilgrims came on from somewhere. And you know what? On that boat, they didn’t have anywhere to go poopy or peepee or wash themselves! Nowhere! And there was a huuuuuuuuuuge storm while they were on the boat and it was really big and strong and they had nowhere to go poopy or peepee and they had to go in a pot and then when they were finished they had to empty the pot OVER the side of the boat into the water! And when that huuuuuuuuge storm came and they all got sick, they had to throw up in the SAME pot and then empty THAT over the side of the boat into the water! Can you believe that? And when they finally saw America, they all shouted, “LAND! LAND!” because they were so excited to see land! Because it took them a really long time. I don’t remember exactly how long, but I think it was more than 50 days! And then they landed on a rock, I forget the name of it but they landed on the rock and there were Americans, Indians, to meet them, and they met each other and they became friends and the Pilgrims invited the Indians to come eat with them and then the Indians showed up with 90 friends and the Pilgrims didn’t even know what to do, so the Indians had to go hunting and they all cooked stuff together, and there were even CHILDREN, they all had children too, boys and girls, and they all ate the food, and oh, when the huuuuuuuuge ship went back to where it came from, they filled it up with food, but nobody wanted to leave because they all wanted to live in America so they just sent the boat back with the food and they stayed with their friends, the Indians, and did you know it took them a week to build ONE house for the Pilgrims to live in? It did, it took a whole week to build one house so they all worked together to build houses for the Pilgrims to live in and they stayed with their friends and did you know how long the first Thanksgiving lasted? Three whole days! Three days! Isn’t that funny?

Thanks Jen! You may want to elaborate on the whole “they were friends” thing. Or you can leave that for next year, like I did.

I do believe I’ll wait just a little while about THAT part of the story. 🙂
