Here are some week-old pics of our new baby guinea keets. They have already almost doubled in size, and considering they 1) spill their food all over the place and 2) poop their weight every day, I’m not sure how that’s possible. Seriously, these little birds are a mess, and totally wild. We’ve read about people training and taming guineas to be as docile as parakeets. I’m guessing those people have absolutely nothing else to do but carry a flapping, poopy bird with them everywhere they go, because the slightest movement makes ours dive on top of each other and huddle in a corner. The husband and Gramps have been working on building the new guinea house, which they’ll be able to move into in five weeks when they’re fully feathered. (The guineas, not the husband and Gramps, though I’m sure there are some days they probably would consider it…)
As you may remember, I owe a post on the new fence we put up for the chickens, but I’m a little behind, thanks to the curse of the kindergarten crud from hell. I promise I’m working on it, but for now, I’ve got to get back to my job as The Momma Hen to my sweet, sick girl.
